Kiteboarding & Kitesurfing
A question is often asked, what is the difference
between Kiteboarding and Kitesurfing
For a purest, Kiteboarding is kiteing on flat water,
and kitesurfing is kiteing over waves. yet, in
reality for almost everyone they are one and the
same! As a new sport, it gained several names. Just
like what became commonly called windsurfing was
also called popularly sailboarding!
Currently the Americas and Austrasia commonly call
it 'kitesurfing' while in Europe it is 'Kiteboarding'.
No doubt in the future one of the two names will
take over (perhaps when it gains Olympic status?)
So what is it?
Basically you have a large kite that can generate a
lot of power, and a board. Using the wind you can
gain a lot of speed, and even massive jumps. Trained
properly it is quite safe, but is a huge amount of
fun and at time adrenaline! Once more experienced
many people go for speed, or for 'air' i.e. massive
jumps in which you can do spectacular tricks.

Where is the best places to go?
anywhere there is consistent wind normally 20km and
above! The key is consistency, not just in number of
days, but also the wind is constant (ie at the same
force/spped). It is MUCH safer if there isn't sudden
gusts etc. An along shore breeze is also a huge plus
(making it much easier to get back to the beach and
your start point). All our destination have just
this! Consistent, Constant along shore breezes. This
is why, combined with excellent instructors, they
are world class destination. We invite you to
experience some of the best kiteboarding in the world on
Ecuador, Colombia and Uruguay! |
